Sports Injury in Chino Hills

“How Injured Active Adults and Athletes Can Get Out of Pain and Back to Doing What They Love”

If you have suffered a Sports Injury, it can be very tempting to pass it off as “nothing serious” and simply “put up with it” carrying on as best you can.

Or, it can be very easy to get disheartened and end up feeling “stuck”, wondering if you’ll ever be able to get back to playing a sport or keeping active like you used to…

If that’s happening to you, you’re not alone – we see people going through this all the time. In fact, we specialize in helping active people who are dealing with sports and workout injuries here at Empower Physical Therapy and Wellness.

And one of the most common questions people suffering with a sports injury ask themselves is:

“It’s Been Months Now – So Why Am I STILL Suffering With An Injury That’s Stopping Me From Working Out And Playing My Favorite Sport?”…

Most people think that when they get a Sports Injury it’ll get better with a few days rest, and that they’ll be able to return to their sport or exercise again, quickly. But then when they go back to exercise again they’re still not at 100%. Or worse, they get re-injured with the same or different type of injury! Often when you rest there is little if any pain – but as soon as you start up again, it comes back and no matter how much rest you give it – it doesn’t seem to be improving.

Does That Sound Like You?

Another scenario we see all the time in our P.T. Clinic is when people go to the Doctors, and the Doctor tells them they need to take a break, rest, wear a brace and “try these painkillers” to “see how it goes”. But then 4 weeks later they end up going back to the same Doctor again because the injury hasn’t got any better, only to be given MORE rest, and ANOTHER prescription of even stronger pills.

Or you go to your coach or trainer and they give you treatment and exercise that doesn’t really take care of the real problem. It feels good temporarily, but the truth is they aren’t properly trained to diagnose (and therefore, properly treat) the REAL PROBLEM (and it’s not their fault, as they are normally treating a whole TEAM at the same time and therefore are not able provide proper care).

The problem is that when it comes to sports injuries – ankle sprains, runner’s knee, hamstring strains, etc., – complete rest is rarely the best advice.

So maybe you’re confused and frustrated because you been told different things, by different people. Maybe you think you have a knee problem – but it’s actually the hip where the problem came from?

Sports injuries can be very confusing because more often than not, where the pain is coming from, isn’t actually the area that needs to be fixed and worked on and if you rest for too long – other parts of the body become just as, if not more problematic!

This confusion over “resting” often leads people to continue to procrastinate and put off making a decision about what to do to help fix their injury and return back to exercise. Worse, many people just end up accepting ‘their days of being active are over’ – as if it’s normal, as if it ‘has’ to be that way.

Is This How You Feel Too?

If You’re Currently Living With A Sports Injury, Here Are 7 Reasons Why It Could Be Lasting Longer Than It Should:

1. You thought it would go away on its own – but it didn’t.

2. You went to the Doctor who told you to rest and take pain medications – but the pills either did NOT help, or helped only for a short period of time (until the pain came back again!)

3. Someone told you that you shouldn’t be working out the way you do anyway – especially at your age.

4. You tried other Healthcare Professionals (Trainer, Coach), or a Physical Therapist in the past, but nothing they said or did helped.

5. You tried exercises from YouTube, but they either did nothing, or made your pain worse.

6. You thought it would be a good idea to rest because your pain was so bad, but all that did was make it feel even more stiff and weak.

7. You decided to get a few “sports massages” hoping that would fix the pain, but all they did was feel a bit ‘painful’ or maybe ‘relaxing’, and didn’t do anything to fix your injury long term…

If any of these have happened to you – we would love to help you by inviting you to book a call with one of our Physical Therapists at our Chino Hills Clinic, to find out what can be done to help you. The fact that you’ve tried any or all of these things already is actually a GOOD THING because when you know what doesn’t work – you are closer to finding the thing that does!

“What Can I Do To Get Rid Of My Pain Quickly?”…

Here’s 4 things you can do:

1. First, you need to decide to get help. So many people procrastinate for so long, thinking that the pain will ‘just go away with time’, but then 6 months down the line they’re still putting up with it, and nothing’s changed… Or it gets worse.

2. Get to the root of your pain. Find a sports injury expert to perform a comprehensive assessment, identify the real root cause of your pain, and explain what must be done to fix it!
3. Get real, “hands-on” Physical Therapy – Specialized Physical Therapy is proven to help people with sports injuries. In fact at Empower Physical Therapy and Wellness we help people recover from sports injuries all year round. If your injury is stopping you from playing sport and keeping active, if it’s affecting your job, or if it threatens your independence and gets in the way of spending quality time with family and friends, expert P.T. can help get you back to living the life you deserve.
4. Next, do the RIGHT exercises – one of the best things to help you recover quickly and safely from an injury is to do the right type of corrective exercises – specifically created for you by our expert Physical Therapist to help reduce pain, and allow you to move freely and return to sport again quickly – and make sure that the problems don’t come back any time soon.

Donna Mid 50's, Chino Hills

To have an injury where I was not able to walk like I did before was huge. But from the first day that I walked in the patient, the time and patience that they gave me, the orientation that Doctor Carlo took to sit with me to find out what it is I needed, made a huge difference.

I realized that for some problems you need a physical therapist. not a general practitioner. I love my general practitioner but I just think it’s important to find the right person for the right job. Physical therapy is far better than any medication they’re going to put you on.

Serena Mid-Teens, Chino

I liked how the employees were really welcoming towards me and how they made me feel really comforted and at home and they understood from my viewpoint, and they wanted to help me, like they were invested in my health. I improved immensely after just a couple of weeks.

“Dr. Carlo and Empower Physical Therapy is the best. They are all so friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable. I’ve been suffering from back pain for over 10 years and had 2 back surgeries in between that time. I have been to a few physical therapists and no one has come close to what Dr. Carlo and his team offers. After my second back surgery 2 years ago I came to Empower with fear. Fear that I can no longer do the activities I use to do with my 3 young kids and that I had to accept that back pain will be with me the rest of my life. However Dr. Carlo has build my strength, my confidence and gave me enough skills to overcome all that. I have never felt stronger, felt this long term pain relief in my back in so long and the best part is I am living my best life with my kids. I now no longer need pain medication because all I need to do is go see Dr. Carlo. I’m currently on a maintenance program and highly recommend it, it is truly the best preventative measure I can do for back. Go see Dr. Carlo and his team, you won’t be disappointed. They have become part of my family over the years.”

“What can I say about Dr. Carlo?!!! He is truly amazing at what he does! I was experiencing lower back pain, more of a dull constant achy feeling for more than 18 months. Finally decided to seek physical therapy for my issue. Through my initial consultation with Dr. Carlo and talking about some of my previous injuries and observed biomechanics, he was able to determine the root cause of my low back pain and within TWO visits, my pain is 80% GONE!!! I can’t begin to describe the enormous sense of relief and joy I feel now, being able to get back to “normal” activities without that constant nagging ache!

Thank you Dr. Carlo! I’m eager to continue my treatment for my low back pain and wouldn’t hesitate to seek him for his wisdom and knowledge to getting me back to feeling normal!!!”
