Neck & Shoulder Pain

Learn 7 Different Ways to Ease Neck & Shoulder Pain… Even if You’ve Suffered for Months or Years and Your Doctor Told You Nothing Could be Done to Help!

If you have shoulder or neck pain, it's easy to think that it's ”no big deal” and that it will go away on its own. You might just think that you “slept funny” or it’s a normal pain that comes with age.

A lot of times the pain isn’t caused by anything obvious. But now it doesn’t seem to be going away!

If this is happening to you, you're not alone: we hear this type of thing all the time. In fact shoulder and neck pain are the most common problems we see here at Empower Physical Therapy and Wellness.

So when it comes to living with shoulder and neck pain, everybody we see wants to know:

“Why is it still Hurting?”

Or

“Why has nothing worked?”

Or

“Why isn’t my Shoulder or Neck pain getting any better?”

Most people think that neck and shoulder pain will just go away on its own. That they'll wake up one day and the pain will magically go away as if it never happened. But six weeks later, they're still having pain and not only that, it has become worse.

Does that sound like you?

Another scenario that we see here at our Empower Physical Therapy Clinic is that people go to their doctors, and the doctors tell them to rest, take medications and “see how it goes”.

Unfortunately this is not the best advice. A lot of times, they end up going back to the doctor again because the pain hasn’t changed. Worse of all, they are given more medications, or random “exercises” on a piece of paper. Or they're told by their doctor to see a specialist whose advice is to get a shot or have surgery. This explains why so many people are living with chronic neck and shoulder pain.

Has This Happened To You?

Why does neck and shoulder pain last longer than it should? It's easy to get confused because you've been told so many different things by different people. There are lots of people out there who are happy to give you advice, but not all of the things you hear are reliable.

Your pain might have been caused by something like lifting or sleeping awkwardly, but it could have been caused by other things that were never properly taken care off (poor posture, stiffness, weakness and muscle imbalance). .These things along with that time you lifted something awkwardly, finally caused that pain your experiencing.

If you don't know what you're doing, or you have received poor advice, neck and shoulder pain can be very confusing. Because of that, many people end up accepting that this pain is just part of their life.

Do You Feel That Way Too?

If You’re Currently Living With Neck & Shoulder Pain, Here are 7 Reasons Why It Could Be Lasting Longer Than It Should:

  • frown-o
    1. You thought it would go away on its own - but it didn’t
  • frown-o
    2. You went to the Doctor who told you to rest and take pain medications - but the pills either did NOT help, or helped only for a short period of time (until the pain came back again!)
  • frown-o
    3. A loved one told you that everybody gets these pains as they get older, so you just accepted it
  • frown-o
    4. You tried other Healthcare Professionals, or a Physical Therapist in the past, but nothing they said or did seemed to help
  • frown-o
    5. You tried exercises from a piece of paper a doctor gave you, but they either did nothing, or made your neck and shoulder pain worse
  • frown-o
    6. You thought it would be a good idea to rest because your pain was so bad, but all that did was make it feel even more stiff and tight
  • frown-o
    7. You decided to get a few “massages” hoping that would fix the problem, but the relief did not last...

We would love to help you by inviting you to schedule a Discover Visit consultation with one of our expert physical therapists. Late 40's, Chino Hills

My primary injury was my left shoulder and I couldn't raise my hand above my head. I was having difficulty putting on my clothes and this injury was chronic and it was affecting my work and day to day activities. Since coming here I pretty much have full range of motion again.

I was off work for five months and that was rough. I love my job and not being able to do that every day was very emotionally and mentally draining as well as physically. I was able to go back to work confidently and able to say I can stand for my full eight hour shift if need be.

My number one thing was just getting my life back. I have three little kids and I want to be able to live normally for my kids. They need their mom, my husband needs a wife and I need to be able to function. Then one day I want to go back to working and I need to be strong for that.
