Empower Physical Therapy & Wellness

Dr. Carlo L. Sayo

DPT, OCS · Co-Founder

Dr. Carlo L. Sayo was born in the Philippines and raised in Burbank, California, where his family settled in 1994. He earned his B.S. from UCLA and went on to complete his Doctor of Physical Therapy at USC in 2006. Early in his career he worked in home health and inpatient care before focusing his practice on outpatient orthopedics, where he now specializes in chronic low back, knee, and shoulder pain. Alongside his wife, Lisa, he co-founded Empower Physical Therapy & Wellness in Chino Hills, building a clinic where patients get hands-on attention from the same therapist visit after visit. He approaches every patient with the belief that lasting relief comes from treating the whole person, not just the injury.

Core Values

What guides the work.

Dr. Sayo's approach centers on treating the person, not just the diagnosis, whether that means chronic low back pain, a stubborn knee, or a nagging shoulder injury. His background spanning home health, inpatient care, and outpatient orthopedics gives him a broad view of recovery, and he applies that experience to build treatment plans that fit each patient's real life. As a co-founder of Empower, he holds the clinic to the same standard he holds himself to: honest evaluations, real communication, and care that earns a patient's trust.

Outside the Clinic

Life beyond the treatment table.

Outside of direct patient care, Dr. Sayo puts real energy into mentoring the staff at Empower, helping the next generation of clinicians grow. He's also passionate about showing the Chino Hills community what good physical therapy can actually do, believing that when people experience quality care firsthand, they understand its value in a way no explanation can capture.
