Dizziness and Vertigo in Chino Hills And Chino

Patients who often experience dizziness or vertigo need to seek medical attention. Dizziness can result from a simple change in medication, or an incorrect prescription of glasses. It could also be caused by a more serious condition such as a neurological disorder.

Vertigo can be described as a feeling of spinning, rocking, moving or turning even though someone is still. Vertigo symptoms can be aggravated by movement of the head and body. Vertigo can last from hours to days before subsiding.

Where do dizziness and vertigo come from?

You may experience dizziness or vertigo independently or together. Both are caused by similar problems in your inner ear and your vision-tracking system. The cause of dizziness is a “disconnect”, which occurs between your vision tracking systems and your joints or muscles. If the tiny crystals in your inner ear are dislodged, vertigo can occur. You may experience extreme disorientation if you move your head.

It is not always clear what causes inner ear disturbances that can cause dizziness and vertigo. The most common cause is a head injury.

What are the main symptoms?

Nearly everyone has experienced dizziness. You feel disorientated and may be unable to think clearly or stay upright. All of these symptoms are common in vertigo, along with the additional challenge of feeling like you’re being spun or shaken. These sensations can make it difficult to move even slightly, let alone drive or do routine tasks.

Dizziness

When something changes your spatial orientation, you can experience dizziness. Spatial orientation refers to the way your brain calculates your body’s position relative to its surroundings. You may feel lightheaded or woozy when this happens. It’s possible to feel unsteady or lose your sense of balance.

Balance

Your sense of balance is based on the relationship between your brain (central nervous system) and your sensory system. Your sensory system includes:

  • Your vestibular maze in your inner ear. This includes your semicircular channels (loops), which respond to your head turning, and your otolith organs, which react to gravity and motion.
  • Your vision – Your eyes send brain impulses to show you where you are relative to other objects.
  • Your skin and joints: Your body’s movements pressure your tissues. Your brain receives signals from your tissues, telling where your body lies in space. If you stand up straight and lean back, your tissues will pressure the tissues at the back of your lower leg and foot. This pressure signals your brain that you are leaning rather than standing straight.

“Dr. Carlo and Empower Physical Therapy is the best. They are all so friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable. I’ve been suffering from back pain for over 10 years and had 2 back surgeries in between that time. I have been to a few physical therapists and no one has come close to what Dr. Carlo and his team offers. After my second back surgery 2 years ago I came to Empower with fear. Fear that I can no longer do the activities I use to do with my 3 young kids and that I had to accept that back pain will be with me the rest of my life. However Dr. Carlo has build my strength, my confidence and gave me enough skills to overcome all that. I have never felt stronger, felt this long term pain relief in my back in so long and the best part is I am living my best life with my kids. I now no longer need pain medication because all I need to do is go see Dr. Carlo. I’m currently on a maintenance program and highly recommend it, it is truly the best preventative measure I can do for back. Go see Dr. Carlo and his team, you won’t be disappointed. They have become part of my family over the years.”

“What can I say about Dr. Carlo?!!! He is truly amazing at what he does! I was experiencing lower back pain, more of a dull constant achy feeling for more than 18 months. Finally decided to seek physical therapy for my issue. Through my initial consultation with Dr. Carlo and talking about some of my previous injuries and observed biomechanics, he was able to determine the root cause of my low back pain and within TWO visits, my pain is 80% GONE!!! I can’t begin to describe the enormous sense of relief and joy I feel now, being able to get back to “normal” activities without that constant nagging ache!

Thank you Dr. Carlo! I’m eager to continue my treatment for my low back pain and wouldn’t hesitate to seek him for his wisdom and knowledge to getting me back to feeling normal!!!”
