Dr. Rosslyn Beard Torres PT, DPT

Physical Therapist

I was born and raised in San Francisco and raised by very loving, active parents. My dad was a semi-professional dancer and my mom was a marathon runner. I grew up doing martial arts starting at the age of three and earned my black belt before heading to high school. Kenpo karate and basketball were my passions growing up. I played basketball for Sacred Heart Cathedral Prep where we won 3 state titles earning the ranking of number one in the Nation. Being on such a successful high school team helped me get recruited and earn a basketball scholarship to Cal Poly Pomona. I was a student-athlete in college earning my degree in Kinesiology-Exercise Science. I took a gap year after undergrad to earn all my PT school volunteer hours, work as a high school strength and conditioning coach, and teach karate as I worked on PT school applications. I’m so blessed to have attended Azusa Pacific University where I earned my Doctorate in Physical Therapy. Towards the end of PT school, I did 6 months of residency at Kaiser Vallejo learning the physical therapy specialty of Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) working in an acute care setting. I then got hired where I did my last PT school rotation at an outpatient orthopedic clinic in Yorba Linda. I worked there for 2.5 years before moving to Empower Physical Therapy and Wellness. Doctorate in Physical Therapy Board Certified in the state of California 6 month residency/internship at Kaiser Vallejo for PNF Certified Movement Links Specialist CPR/AED certified

I am a Doctor of Physical Therapy and am one of the clinicians that specializes in providing individualized treatment for each patient. I also specialize in movement analysis, sports-specific rehabilitation, and post-surgical rehabilitation.

Sometimes patients are provided cookie-cut treatments and rehabilitation programs for their specific conditions. Our clinicians pride ourselves in providing individualized treatments and personalized rehabilitation programs for a patient’s specific condition to maximize their recovery.

I enjoy treating common orthopedic issues like but not limited to neck, shoulder, back, hip, knee, ankle, and foot pain. I also enjoy treating patients who have had joint replacements, spine surgeries, rotator cuff repairs, ACL and meniscus repairs, and frozen shoulders. I am also passionate about treating patients who neurological conditions like post-stroke and Parkinson’s.

I love the one on one attention we are able to provide our patients here at Empower PT. I also love how our staff has truly become like family. I love that our staff absolutely values patient care and works hard to uphold high standards for our patients. Last but not least, I love our diverse population and that we are able to help those in the Inland Empire.

I had right knee total replacement in November of 2019 I began preoperative care at Empower about a month out from surgery and I did all of my post operative PT with them as well. I highly recommend them…they all do an amazing job. My primary therapists were Michelle and Rosslyn and they are both amazing very encouraging and supportive while at the same time pushing me hard so I could recover strong and quick. Sarah does an outstanding job of running the front office and all the logistics involved she was very helpful when I ran into small insurance issues. With all their help I was able to return to full duty as a firefighter with in 6 months of surgery…I recommend them 100% !! -Greg Lewis
