Nathan Berio

Physical Therapy Aide

I grew up in Montclair, and I am currently attending California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, where I am majoring in Kinesiology. I also currently work at Chipotle Mexican Grill, where I have been for 3 years, which has helped me strengthen my communication and teamwork skills in a fast-paced environment. At Cal Poly Pomona, I am involved in the Pre-Physical and Occupational Therapy Club and participate in research at the Motor Neuroscience Lab as a lab technician being published. These experiences have deepened my interest in health and rehabilitation and motivate me toward a future career in physical therapy, making a positive impact on people’s lives.

I have experience in the food industry through my current job at Chipotle, where I work in a fast-paced team environment that has strengthened my communication, time management, and multitasking skills. In addition, I contribute to research in the Motor Neuroscience Lab, where I have gained many valuable skills. I assisted in the design and execution of experiments investigating motor control and neuromechanics, focusing on lowering blood glucose levels in sedentary individuals and using equipment such as Biodex and EMG.

The core values that drive me in life are service, growth, and empathy. I believe in helping others and supporting them to reach their goals, which motivates me as well. I also believe in growth, both personally and in my career, and I aspire to learn from every experience to become better prepared for the future and push myself to always be better than last time. Empathy drives me to relate and understand others, allowing me to support people and make someone’s day better in any way I can.

“Are you a different animal and the same beast?”

In my role as a Rehabilitation Aide, I work closely with patients by guiding them through exercises, setting up and organizing equipment, and making sure the clinic environment is safe and welcoming. I focus on supporting patients in their recovery journey by helping them stay motivated and steadily progress toward their goals.

Something patients often have to deal with is feeling discouraged or overwhelmed during their recovery process. Many people struggle with pain, slow progress, or the fear that they may not fully recover, which can affect their motivation. I want to help fix this by providing encouragement, empathy, and support—reminding patients that every step forward is meaningful. By creating a positive and understanding environment, I hope to make their rehabilitation journey less stressful and more empowering.

What I enjoy most about working here is being part of such a supportive and collaborative team. Everyone works together with the shared goal of helping patients recover and feel their best. Additionally, I enjoy being able to interact with patients and support them throughout their recovery.
